My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that in order to help a student become a better actor, I need to get them to dig deeper - deeper into themselves, into the text, and the story being told. I teach that actors should know the characters they play as well as they know themselves. Using elements of voice, movement and in-depth character development, I teach students to recognize their own natural tendencies in order to find the natural mannerisms of the characters they portray.

Working with Jacole Kitchen has been a wonderful journey as an actor. Jacole’s energy is contagious. She teaches with her heart and soul and you can really see the passion she has for igniting her students to dig deeper. She is excellent at reading people, pulling out their guts and then gently helping them reorient their bits in ways that aid the actor in bringing the characters to life. She is talented, authentic, honest, dedicated, and loving. I am excited at the progress I feel as an actor in large part due to these wonderful sessions with Jacole.
